The only visual clue you get is a parking space big enough for a truck and trailer to fit into. When you (slowly) drive over a rest spot in a gas station, hotel or border parking lot, rest area, etc., the Route Adviser dings and you are advised that you need to turn off the engine and press Enter to rest.

Not so good if you're on a job and just want it to be night time. Set "day_in_year: 358" in "/def/env_data.sii" and you'll have the shortest day in year.

If you play without the route advisor, then you could take a classical approach. Take notes on paper. Do some calculations on what is the time of day you shouldn't pass without going to sleep, and put that paper on your desk in front of you, or stick it to the monitor. And then pay attention from time to time to your truck's dashboard clock.
